West Michigan Farmers Market Season Is Back

More than a dozen farmers markets are opening across the region this season, stretching from Grand Rapids neighborhoods like Fulton Street, Creston, and the West Side to surrounding communities including Rockford, Ada, Kentwood, Caledonia, and Wayland.

It is a sure sign of the season change, with stalls filling up again with fresh fruit, vegetables, locally grown produce, meats, flowers, handmade art, baked goods, and other foods.

Fulton Street Farmers Market: A Local Icon

One of the most well-known is the Fulton Street Farmers Market in Grand Rapids. Over 100 years old, it is a true local institution. Opening day for its main season is Saturday, May 2.

It's one of my husband and my favorites, not just for the vendors but for everything around it too. Food trucks, beverage carts, rotating artists markets, and events that make it feel like more than just a grocery stop. It is very much a “we will just go for a little bit” and then suddenly it is two hours later situation!

Discover 20 + U-Pick Fruit Farms Near Grand Rapids

Soon enough spring will be here and that means West Michigan's many fruit farms will ramp back up for the season. Strawberries will be ready for picking in June, followed by cherries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and peaches in July.
