Free Tree Giveaway Coming Up in Grand Rapids Area May 29

I don’t know about you, but after the winter we just survived, my yard is looking rough. The grass is questionable. A couple bushes didn’t make it. I've been thinking a nice tree might really help the situation.

Well, luckily a free tree giveaway is coming to the Grand Rapids area later this month!

Free Tree Giveaway Coming to Wyoming

Friends of Grand Rapids Parks is teaming up with Fox Subaru and Bloom Credit Union to give away 150 free trees on Friday, May 29.

The event runs from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the new Bloom Credit Union Wyoming branch at 911 28th St. SW. No RSVP is needed. You just show up and grab a tree while supplies last.

There will be four different species available:

Sycamore
Red Maple
Flowering Dogwood
Bald Cypress

Arborists Will Help You Pick the Right Tree

Worried you won't pick out the right thing? Arborists will be on site during the event to answer questions and help you figure out which tree makes the most sense in your yard.

They’ll also help with tips on planting and care, which is helpful for those of us who have accidentally killed plants we were specifically told were “low maintenance.”

A Pretty Cool Way to Help the Neighborhood

The event is open to the whole community, and organizers are encouraging people to invite friends and family to help create a greener future around West Michigan.

The giveaway is first come, first served, so if you’ve got your eye on a specific tree, getting there earlier is probably the move.
