Michigan Summer Beer Festival Cancelled, Again

Despite the new CDC recommendations and pandemic conditions continuing to improve, the 2021 Michigan Summer Beer Fest will be cancelled once again in 2021.

The Michigan Brewers Guild made the announcement this morning that the festival will be cancelled for the second year in a row. As there is still uncertainty around large gatherings, the city of Ypsilanti was uncomfortable hosting the event, and the guild says they understand and appreciate that decision.

Although the traditional Summer Beer Fest, usually held in July, is cancelled, Guild Executive Director Scott Graham says they are working on other summer plans for Michigan beer lovers:

As an alternative to the July event, we are developing plans for two festivals in August (on the 14th and 28th) and we hope to make more specific announcements about those events soon. We are working through reasonable safety protocols and other details now and will share more information about our plans and ticket availability in the coming weeks. Please recognize that we are hopeful yet cautious about these plans.

They will also be highlighting 'Michigan Beer Month' once again in July, member brewers across the state will offer beer drinkers the opportunity at getting a commemorative pint glass. Many members will also have unique offerings that are traditionally held for the summer's event. Those breweries and offerings will be available soon on MiBeer.com.

This year will also feature Great Beer State Golf Outings in Rockford on June 9th, Lansing on August 11th, and Gaylord on October 9th.
