The parks are hiring for the 2026 season, and these aren’t “stand behind a counter” kind of gigs. Sleeping Bear Dunes, Pictured Rocks, and Isle Royale all have hands-on roles in skilled trades, science, trail crews, boats, and public safety—set in some of the most jaw-dropping spots in Michigan.

Sleeping Bear Dunes has the widest mix of openings. They’re looking for maintenance workers, mechanics, student laborers, biological science technicians, and even park rangers focused on preventative search and rescue. In other words, you could be fixing things, keeping trails running, studying wildlife, or helping visitors stay safe on those massive Lake Michigan dunes. Most positions run spring through fall and start anywhere from $19 to nearly $29 an hour, depending on the job.

Up at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Munising, there’s a trail work leader role for someone who doesn’t mind getting dirty and taking charge. Pay starts around $27 per hour. If maintaining trails with Lake Superior cliffs as your office view sounds appealing, this one’s worth a click.

At picturesque Isle Royale, they’re hiring a seasonal deckhand based out of Houghton starting at nearly $28 an hour. They’re also looking for a seasonal park ranger, a hands-on role that involves running a visitor center, leading seasonal and volunteer staff, planning trips, teaching Leave No Trace, and sometimes operating small boats or assisting with emergencies. The ranger position starts at about $29.50 per hour.
