Rude – Study Says Michigan Has Some of the Worst Looking People in America

A new study by career website Zippia ranks all 50 states according to how attractive the people are. And Michigan did NOT fare well.

What do you think of Zippia's criteria? They took into account factors like number of STDs, obesity, and activity levels.

Zippia also points out,

Attraction isn’t just surface level. People are attracted to partners who are successful and well-educated. After all, what’s more beautiful than a nice mind? To measure these, we looked at income levels from the Census’ ACS. Income is correlated with education and while money isn’t the only measure of success, it’s not a bad place to start.

Zippia ranked each state in 5 categories:

• Obesity rates
• Percent of residents who are physically active
• Average Income
• STD rates
• Interest in hair, clothes, and other grooming

Using data from YesStyle, they the states have the most clothes store and hair parlors per person and the interest people have in grooming and self-care.

They also looked at Census data and reports from the CDC.

Out of all 50 states, Michigan is way down at #36. Yikes!

Well, at least we're not in dead last... that would be Mississippi. And Ohio? #37. So we've got that going for us, which is nice.

So which states are full of hotties?

If you check out Zippia's map on the subject, it appears the Western part of the U.S. is FAR more attractive than the Midwest and South...

Overall, according to Zippia these are the Top Ten Most Attractive States:

1. New Jersey
2. Hawaii
3. California
4. Massachusetts
5. New York
6. Colorado
7. Connecticut
8. Rhode Island
9. Alaska
10. Arizona

While it is kind of a bummer for the Mitten State to be ranked so low, as Zippia points out:
