WOODTV spent part of the day Monday with the City of Grand Rapids’ street department, talking about getting the streets plowed, and what hinders that from happening.

Monday was a tough day for the plows because of the cold temps and continuing snowfall, according to WOODTV.  But there were also some complaints that we can help, so our streets get plowed quickly.

The two big complaints the plow drivers have, as they work 14+-hour shifts trying to keep our roads clear, are 1) People who don’t follow the Odd/Even parking rules and 2) people who just have to get around this plow!

The plow drivers told WOODTV that the Odd/Even parking is a big deal and sometimes will keep them from coming down your street because they can fit past cars on both sides of the street.

Remember your car needs to be on the side of what the date will be at 1 am.  Odd side on the odd dates and even side on even dates.  Parking enforcement is in effect from November 1st through April 1st, 7 days a week, from 1 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Follow the rules so your street can get plowed.   Also be neighborly and be mindful when street parking – maximize space so everyone can park.  Yes, I’m talking to my neighbor who needs to pull his white Tahoe up….EVERY SINGLE TIME.  I digress.

Let me finish with, THANK YOU to all the plow drivers.  You all rock!
