
Grand Rapids Downtown Market Vendor Closing After 13 Years as New Concept Steps In
More changes are coming to the Grand Rapids Downtown Market. Yes, one original eatery is saying goodbye, but don't worry, you'll still be able to get your taco fix!

Tacos El Cuñado is ending its 13-year run at the end of the month. Moving into that spot is GR Taco Shop, set to open later this fall.


Behind the new restaurant it is Ashley Cano, who's spent the last decade co-owning El Toro Bravo over in Wyoming. Taking over the spot at the Downtown Market is her very first move into downtown Grand Rapids, and she's bringing her family's long-standing recipes along with her.

Cano says in a release,
We are thrilled to expand our business with GR Taco Shop and join the Market Hall at the Downtown Market. This new concept gives us the opportunity to share our family recipes, fresh dishes and bold flavors with even more people. We cannot wait to welcome guests and become part of the Downtown Market community.

As you might have guessed, GR Taco shop will serve tacos, but also burritos, tortas, and other specialty dishes. The restaurant is also launching a full event catering service with an expanded spread of Mexican staples.
What Else is There to Eat at Grand Rapids Downtown Market?
GR Taco Shop will be joining 20 other local vendors inside the Market Hall.
Other recent additions to the lineup over the last couple of years include European-inspired restaurant Sav Sav by Squibb, plant-based joint Go Vegan, plus cookie shop Her Daily Bread, and Burmese spot Myanmar Meals.
