Outdoor dining has always been part of Michigan’s restaurant scene, but the last few years pushed places to get inventive. Heated igloos let guests enjoy the crisp winter air while staying warm and fully immersed in the experience.

One of my first igloo experiences wasn’t even in Grand Rapids. It was at Hop Lot in Suttons Bay. Their twelve heated igloos feature ionized furnaces, QR-code ordering for food and drinks, and five natural wood-burning fire pits to make the experience extra cozy. Winter dining has never felt so inviting.
