We've seen a lot of cool upgrades and renovations at Grand Rapids-area parks thanks to a voter-approved millage. The millage allows continued investment in City parks. It will provide approximately $5 million each year for repair, maintenance, and new improvements to parks, pools, and playgrounds. Recent projects have included a climbing wallhammock groves, and an outdoor fitness center.

The latest park to get spruced up is Highland Park at 523 Grand Ave NE.

According to the City of Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation Department, work at Highland Park is complete as of Nov. 28, 2023.
