Grand Rapids and West Michigan is constantly being recognized for the excellent health care facilities in the region, and now Grand Rapids is also being recognized as one of the premiere cities in the nation for Americans with disabilities.

Grand Rapids ranks the 10th best city for people with disabilities among all other American cities.  The city ranked just below Bismarck, ND (#9) and just above Chandler, AZ (#11). Grand Rapids also ranks as having the 10th best health care options for people with disabilities in the nation.

Here are the 10 best cities for people with disabilities in America.

  2. South Burlington, VT
  3. Sioux Falls, SD
  4. Scottsdale, AZ
  5. Columbia, MD
  6. San Francisco, CA
  7. Rapid City, SD
  8. St. Louis, MO
  9. Bismarck, ND
  10. Grand Rapids, MI

Only one other Michigan city made the list and it was in the bottom half.  Detroit was 108th on the list, despite being tied for second in highest percentage of persons with disabilities living in the area.
