Forever 21 Not Forever, Set To Close All Michigan Stores
Well, it's been a tough couple of years for retailers as we enter a drastically online-shifting world. Longtime mall staples like JoAnn Fabrics and Party City both filed for bankruptcy recently, announcing they would both be closing all their locations in the coming months.
Now, another store that I have made a routine of popping into every time I'm at the mall has announced it too will be filing for bankruptcy for a second time, however, this time there is no turnaround in sight. Forever 21 will soon close all 9 locations around Michigan.
Writing On The Wall
If this news comes as a shock to you, then you sadly may not have been paying attention lately. One of the best parts about Forever 21 in recent years is that it feels like half the store is constantly on sale. While that isn't super shocking for this fast-fashion shop, it also shows how much the company has been struggling.
Forever 21 announced back in 2019 that it was filing for bankruptcy, and while it managed to stay afloat back then, its relaunching plans were majorly disrupted by COVID-19 and the increase in e-commerce. While Forever 21 sort of started the idea of fast fashion, it just couldn't keep up with other companies like Shein and Temu that have soared in popularity thanks to TikTok, according to the company's bankruptcy filing.

Not Gone Yet
While the company has announced the stores will stay open for the time being to assist with liquidation, it seems things will be business as usual for the time being as no going-out-of-business sales have been announced. Until that time officially comes, keep an eye out for larger sales and try snagging some discounted goods while you can.
