Popular, Beloved Grand Rapids Coffee Shop is Shutting Down

Savor those final sips! A much-loved Grand Rapids Coffee shop has announced it's permanently closing.

Outside Coffee Co. first opened its outdoor café at 734 Wealthy St. in 2018. The owners say,

Our idea was simple; to create a space for community to gather outside over a cup of coffee.

With an outpouring of support from the community, the business grew and they upgraded to their current food truck the next year.

Guests can enjoy baked goods, coffee, and more in Outside Coffee's garden-like setting. Over the past 6 and a half years, Outside Coffee has hosted artist markets, clubs, even marriage proposals.

The owners also run Woosah Outfitters. In 2022 they opened a Woosah store in Douglas along with a coffee shop there.

Come October, the GR coffee shop will be shutting down.

The owners shared in a post to social media:

This year, we find ourselves at a fork in the road. We believe the potential of the food truck has maxed out and is not sustainable moving forward, and alternative options prove to be financially out of reach and require more than we’re able to take on.
We have exhausted every option to keep this location open and have made the impossibly hard decision to close.

Loyal customers are sharing their appreciation for the café and their sadness at it closing.

Outside Coffee Grand Rapids will close October 2, 2024. The Douglas location remains open as well as Woosah Outfitters in Grand Rapids and Douglas.
