Party City Closing ALL Michigan Locations, Effective Immediately
I hope you weren't waiting to get all your holiday shopping supplies until the last minute because Michigan's go-to source for all things partying has just announced they would be ceasing operations for every location in Michigan.
Just two months ago I wrote about how hopeful Party City was at rebounding from its bankruptcy declaration despite closing 4 locations in Michigan last year. However, it seems the company has dramatically changed its position and will now be closing all locations.

The Party Is Over
Party City filed for bankruptcy in January of 2023, citing the COVID-19 pandemic and a shift to online shopping and big-box store shopping at stores like Walmart and Amazon. Despite this, the company made a surprisingly successful turnaround, exiting bankruptcy in high hopes with a renewed focus on evolving its e-commerce business.
The company managed to keep almost all of its 800 locations open and keep its nearly 6,400 full-time and 10,100 part-time workers on the payroll. However, Party City joined Big Lots in making startling announcements this week that they would be shutting down permanently.

Party City was North America's largest party goods retailer with plenty of kids having memories of all the foil balloons and costumes around the stores. All my birthday party decorations were bought from Party City just last year. The store will be missed.
