After Four Years in Business South Haven Pizzeria Permanently Closes

A Chicago-based pizzeria that opened in South Haven, Mich. in 2018 is shutting its doors.

I remember being really excited when I heard Gino's East which served "Chicago's legendary deep dish pizza" was coming to my hometown! My family and I ate there a few times and enjoyed it - sad to hear it's closing down.

The pizzeria at 248 Broadway St. in South Haven announced the news on Facebook, saying,

It is with the heaviest of hearts we announce the closing of Gino’s East in South Haven. It’s difficult to articulate the amount of gratitude for your patronage over the years, especially during these unprecedented times in the restaurant industry.

A closing date was not given, but the restaurant is now listed as "permanently closed" on Facebook.

According to Gino's East's website, the pizza chain is still operating seven other locations in Illinois, Texas, California, and Iowa. The original restaurant opened in Chicago in 1966. The South Haven Gino's East  was the only Michigan location.

Prior to Gino's East, there was a restaurant called Joe's Bar and Grill at that location, which opened in 2010. According to MLive, Coloma native Joe Wiltgen had purchased and refurbished an old tire shop and turned it into the sports bar.

Well... what would you like to see at the location next? My family and I are always looking for great spots to eat in South Haven, so I'd be happy with another restaurant!
