Trent Reznor has had his hands on many projects in the last couple of years. From composing the scores to movies like The Social Network and the upcoming The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, to his OTHER band How To Destroy Angels, Reznor is a busy guy. However, it seems the musician will return to his roots and work on new Nine Inch Nails material next year.

Speaking to Zane Lowe from BBC Radio One (via NME), Reznor said he needed to branch out and work on different projects aside from NIN.

"I need to commit to doing something different, and that doesn't mean I'm not going to return to that [Nine Inch Nails] at some point," Reznor explains. "But I find myself pushed and pulled back into the same routine of album, tour, album, tour, album, tour, while a list of things I'd like to try and do in life sits untouched on the table."

However, fans should not worry that Reznor will abandon the group that started it all for him. In fact, he will spend time in the new year to start work on some new Nine Inch Nails songs.

"I plan on spending a good portion of this year coming up writing with that in mind," Reznor says. "Let's see what happens."

Nine Inch Nails played their last shows in 2009 with Reznor saying they would no longer be a touring band. However, he stated earlier this year that NIN was not dead and that still appears to be the case.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, scheduled to open in theaters on December 21, stars James Bond himself Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara. The film is based off of the best-selling Swedish novel of the same name.
