I was late to the Super Bowl shindig I attended last night. Well, there was this little thing called weather that turned a 5 minute drive into a 15 minute one. Yuck.

So I missed a few things. Including the Nationwide Insurance commercial that got everyone all riled up. In fact, one of the first things I heard upon getting to the big game gathering was,

"Apparently Nationwide's dead kid commercial is pissing everyone off."

I didn't actually watch the ad until today.

I mean, I understand how it could bum people out. It IS sad. But children dying in household accidents is a real, completely horrifying, and unimaginable sad thing that does happen.

Preventable injuries around the home are the leading cause of childhood deaths in America... Nationwide ran an ad during the Super Bowl that started a fierce conversation. The sole purpose of this message was to start a conversation, not sell insurance. We want to build awareness of an issue that is near and dear to all of us-the safety and well being of our children... Thousands of people visited MakeSafeHappen.com, a new website to help educate parents and caregivers with information and resources in an effort to make their homes safer and avoid a potential injury or death."

What do you think? Do you understand Nationwide's reasoning or still think the ad went too far?
