Ministry were scheduled to perform last night at Bataclan in Paris, France, but ended up interrupting their show mid-set, then subsequently cancelling it, due to frontman Al Jourgensen being hospitalized.

According to an account posted by Radio Metal after the cancelled show, Al Jourgensen “came on stage rather intoxicated and was nearly unable to move throughout the performance,” although no official cause of illness has been reported by the band. He was eventually escorted off of the stage by crew members.

Jourgensen has been very open with fans about past drug addiction and battling demons throughout his career including a debilitating heroin habit that caused him to have a toe amputated and almost lose his arm, according to reports. Health problems led to the break-up of the band, however, once Jourgensen was feeling better he reformed the band releasing ‘Relapse’ in March.

Although Jourgensen has kicked his drug habit, he told Revolver that he still drinks close to two bottles of wine a day.

Perhaps foreshadowing the alleged meltdown, a show review from a show a few nights earlier in London, England reports Jourgensen asking the crowd for a joint, saying, “I’m getting tired of doing this show sober.”

In the wake of this news, Ministry has cancelled their appearance at Rock En Stock tonight, July 29.
