Noel and Liam Gallagher Won’t Appear Together at 2012 Fuji Rock Festival

It would appear that not even the inherent loneliness that comes with being a continent away from home can get the Gallagher brothers to put aside their differences and spend time together. In a new interview, Noel Gallagher says that he and his brother Liam made sure that they would appear on separate days at this weekend’s Fuji Rock Festival in Japan.

“I don’t think either camp would allow it,” Noel told the Sun. “What happens if we’re on the same bill? People start asking if we’re reforming, that’s what … I don’t need that and I doubt he does either. I’d rather avoid it all together, thank you.”

So that’s that. No chance of them running into each other backstage and making pleasantries, such as inquiring about the health of family members or the hopes of their beloved Manchester City repeating as English Premier League champions, that could lead to a potential impromptu Oasis reunion.

Noel’s Gallagher’s High Flying Birds have the more prestigious slot, headlining Saturday night (July 28). But Beady Eye, Liam’s new band, have the second-to-last spot on Friday night, playing before the reunited Stone Roses.

Liam, however, may get the last laugh. Beady Eye are rumored to be singing Oasis’ hit ‘Wonderwall,’ written by his brother, in front of the whole world during the closing ceremonies of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. Noel reportedly turned that gig down.
