Jack White has played on and produced a new single by Butthole Surfers frontman Gibby Haynes. The record will serve as the next installment of Third Man Records' ‘Blue Series,’ and in a move that justifies the label head and former White Stripes member's reputation for eccentric creativity, White plans to release a limited number of vinyl copies on old medical X-rays.

The single comprises three songs: the original tracks ‘Horse Named George’ and ‘You Don’t Have to Be Smart’ and a cover of hardcore punk band Adrenalin O.D.’s ‘Paul’s Not Home.’

Regular copies of the disc will go on sale on Feb. 14, and the special vinyl editions – otherwise known as FLEX-RAYs, according to a press release – will be available for purchase at this year’s SXSW via Third Man Records’ Rolling Record Store.

In other news, White is gearing up to take the stage at the 55th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday (Feb. 10). His solo debut, ‘Blunderbuss,’ is in the running for Best Rock Album and Album of the Year. His tune ‘Freedom at 21’ is also up for Best Rock Song.
