I love Grand Rapids and all it has to offer with local music, so I decided why not feature local bands here on wgrd.com! Todays featured Absinthe, they answered a few questions for me below! Check them out, and if your in a local band and want to be featured then answer the same questions and email them along with a video to Jackie@wgrd.com, I don’t just feature anyone, so don’t suck and you’ll get the Jackie stamp of approval ;) Find me on facebook too, to follow all your favorite local bands, and GRD news by clicking HERE

Who are all the members of your band, and what do they play?
Frank- Guitar/Vocals, Johnny- Bass/Vocals, Thaddeus - Drums

When did the band get together, and how?
Well, when me and Thaddeus were sophomores at Creston High he got a drum kit and I had already been fiddling around on guitar. We started jamming and the rest is history. We've gone through a NUMBER of bassists and had a few second guitarists. For the longest, our core was just me and Thaddeus, but our new bassist Johnny is so awesome and creative, he is really adding something new to the group. After the many setbacks from losing bassists, I think Johnny is really gonna help us get to the next level. He has been with us about 6 months now.

How would you describe your music to someone?
It has been described as Tool bending over Pink Floyd and just giving it to them.

Who are some of the bands that influence your music?
Biggest influences are Tool, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against the Machine, Chevelle, Pink Floyd, Electric Light Orchestra, Meshuggah, etc.

What other bands have your members been/are in?

Thaddeus and I have never strayed from the group and I don't think our new bassist was with any band worth mentioning.

What other local bands would you recommend people check out?.
Gunship Radio from Kzoo and The Crane Wives are probably my favorite. Former local bands that I personally LOVED were 256 and Knee Deep Shag.

Where is your favorite place to play in Grand Rapids?

The Intersection, The Delta Plex, Rocky's.

Where can we catch you performing next?
June 3rd at 3pm at GR Festival of the arts and then June 9th at Ulis Haus of Rock in Lansing opening up for KrashKarma
