It's a Cyber Monday miracle!

Girl Scout cookies can now be purchased online, via the organization's newly approved "Digital Cookie" program.

Until now Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. preferred to keep sales offline, encouraging individual scouts to set up booths or go door-to-door.

Sarah Angel-Johnson, who directs the digital cookie effort, told the New York Times:

"Girls across the country now can use modern tools to expand the size and scope of their cookie business and learn vital entrepreneurial lessons in online marketing, application use and e-commerce."

So how does it work? According to the Girl Scout's website, the scouts will still initiate the cookie sale. So if you know a Girl Scout, tell her you're interested in becoming a Digital Cookie customer and she takes it from there.

Some scouts will market their online cookie business by inviting customers to visit their personalized cookie websites through a link sent via email. Others will take in-person orders using a mobile app.

Yep, there's now an app for Girl Scout cookies.

The organization does say that because the program is just launching, not all Girl Scouts markets are participating just yet (see the list of participating troops).

But not to worry! According to the organization's website, more areas and more girls will be participating as the program continues to grow.
