Dave Grohl Isn’t Going To Write A Foo Fighters Christmas Song

The Foo Fighters like to lean into the Christmas cheer during the holiday season. They've gone on shows like SNL and given stellar performances of some Christmas classics. The Foos released a-Rockin' cover of Chuck Berry's Run Run Rudolph in the weeks leading into Christmas. Dave also teamed up with producer Greg Kurstin to release a series of Jewish holiday covers to celebrate Hanukkah.

Grohl loves his fair share of festive tunes but isn't keen on penning one himself. Because he holds the classics in such high regard, the bar is set pretty high.

In an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, he said "It’s kind of tricky... You’re so used to the classics…

“We’ve been asked to do it, but I wouldn’t even know what to say… No, we’ve never even tried. I don’t know if people would want us to do that. I’m not sure. Maybe the day that we decide we don’t want to do this anymore, we make a Christmas song and then we ride off into the sunset.”

For Hanukkah this year Grohl and Kurstin recorded eight songs by eight famous Jewish artists. The Hanukkah Sessions included covers of songs by the likes of Drake, Bob Dylan, and the Beastie Boys. All of which you can find right here.

The Foo Fighters’ next release is far from Christmas music. The band will release their new album, “Medicine at Midnight,” on Feb. 5, 2021.
