Chris Cornell on Possible Temple of the Dog Gigs: ‘I Think That Would Be Fun to Do’

Back in 1990, Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell was the creative force behind the band Temple of the Dog in tribute to his lost friend and Mother Love Bone frontman Andrew Wood who passed away the same year. Temple of the Dog was a musical juggernaut chock full of talent with Stone Gossard on guitar, Jeff Ament on bass (both former members of Mother Love Bone) along with Matt Cameron and Eddie Vedder. A super group by definition, the collective released one self-titled disc and only played live one time together.

With the recent return of Soundgarden and Cornell’s Temple of the Dog bandmates moving forward with Pearl Jam, it seems only logical to wonder if Temple of the Dog would ever take another go at it, even if for just one more live show.

Although there are currently no plans in the works for a Temple of the Dog reunion show, Cornell seemed open to the idea. In a new interview with 107.7 The Bone, Cornell expanded on that, sharing, “We’ve talked about it, we’ve talked about it a bunch of time but we don’t have any plans to do it.”

He continued, saying, “For us to actually be able to play a show, we only ever played one show, so I think that would be fun to do if everybody wanted to do it. Play a couple shows where we can play all the songs, because we never did that.”
