Those in attendance at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony at the Barclays Center arena last night were certainly treated to a nice surprise when the surviving members of Nirvana performed with various female singers to close out the event. But an even bigger thrill came for those lucky enough to make it into a tiny Brooklyn, N.Y., bar for an after-party where the Nirvana members performed a full set!
Here we are now! Entertain us! And for during the late '80s and early '90s that's exactly what Nirvana did. The band's meteoric rise to fame was saluted on Thursday night (April 10) as they were officially inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
As many rock fans will tell you, the induction of KISS into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was a long time coming. The loss of GWAR frontman and mastermind Dave Brockie (aka Oderus Urungus) sent the metal world into mourning on March 24. Countless tributes have been paid by some of rock and metal's finest musicians along with fans from around the world. In memory of the late frontman, the surviving members of GWAR memorialized their friend and announced the launch of the Dave Brockie Foundation.
While KISS will not be performing at their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, at least one of the members will be strapping on their instrument to play at the ceremony. Guitarist Ace Frehley has confirmed he will be part of the ceremony's annual all-star jam that typically concludes the festivities.
