I don't know if cornbread in milk is a Michigan tradition, but I have enjoyed this delicious snack all my life. I couldn't find its origin but did find a couple of names for it. "Crumble-in" or "crumb-in" were the two official names for cornbread in a bowl of milk is given. The history behind crumble-in is that it was a way for families to stay fed during food shortages. This might be more of a Southern tradition since my parents are originally from Kentucky. Nevertheless, it's delicious and a great way to save leftover cornbread from going to waste.

I stumbled across an alleged Michigan tradition involving something else going into milk but I have never heard of this in all my years as a Michigander and I'm not alone.

As you can see from the above Facebook thread, I'm not the only one who has never heard of pickles in milk in Michigan. Janis Polus is 83 has lived here her whole life, and has never heard of this being a Michigan thing.
