A Holland woman whose boyfriend started a huge apartment fire in his attempts to burn off the fur of a squirrel he intended on eating, is not on the hook for the damage, but her insurance company is.

Appeals court Justices called it a “fur burning escapade” but we call it costly. The fire rendered a bunch of people temporarily homeless when the fire destroyed their homes.

After years of legal battling, a Court of Appeals in Holland ruled in May 2016 that Barbara Pellow would have to pay $2 million in damages for the fire at Clearview Apartments.

Luckily for her, WZZM-13 reports that that ruling was reversed back in August.

The Holland Sentinel reports that since then, the apartment complex and the woman's insurance company have settled the case for $300,000.
