Watch: Bath Township Officers Rescue Man Who’d Fallen Through the Ice

Bath Township - the police agency known for its often outrageous social media presence - made a dramatic rescue, pulling a man to safety after he'd fallen through the ice.

The Bath Township Police Department has developed a reputation for hilarious Facebook posts and lighthearted jabs at some of the knuckleheads who get caught doing knucklehead stuff. (Check out the department's Get-Out-of-Jail-Free Cards from a few years ago.)

But they also know when it's time to get serious and take care of business.

On Thursday (2/2), officers rolled up their sleeves and got to work after a man had fallen through the ice on his pond. A video of the rescue is below.

The man's daughter called 911 after he fell through the ice while driving his utility vehicle. According to the agency's Facebook post, Sergeant Mardigian and Officer Decker arrived on the scene within just a few minutes.

Thankfully, the officers were able to pull the man to safety and get him immediate medical attention.

Sgt. Mardigian and Ofc. Decker were able to deploy a department rescue rope to the victim and pull him to safety. Fire personnel with the Bath Township Fire Department arrived on scene and began to render aid to the victim who was then transported to Sparrow Hospital.

Chief Gary Smith goes on to say the man is expected to make a full recovery and reminds everyone to make sure the ice is safe when planning to go out on any frozen body of water.

Given the seriousness of the situation, it's probably best that they didn't make a reference to 'taking a cold bath in Bath Township.'
