The owners announced news of the closure to Facebook Wednesday, Dec. 19, saying,
Saturday, December 21st will be our final day of business. The time has come for us to retire a time to reflect on the years we've enjoyed in Rockford. We greatly appreciate the warm welcome given us by the city, as well as the support and patronage of the residents of Rockford and surrounding communities.
Commenters are sharing their well-wishes, but also sadness at the winery closing.
Taylor shares,
So sad for me (my favorite spot!). Congratulations on your retirement!

Will miss your slushes in the summer and canned drinks for days on the water. My daughter has been a fan of your root beer for years! Thank you for being a great meeting place here in rockford!
On Wednesday and Thursday Kayla Rae Cellars is holding a going out of business sale with everything thirty percent off.
