Jody's Restaurant in Rockford, Mich., to Close

A staple in the Rockford, Mich., community is permanently closing.

The restaurant has been in operation for more than 40 years, serving burgers, burritos, homemade desserts, and its famous onion rings.

Jody's Restaurant, named for owners Joann and Don Mendham, has been serving Rockford families on East Division Street since 1981. The Mendham's describe Jody's as "a fast service restaurant with a menu that you would only expect in expensive restaurants."

At Jody's you can eat in the dining room, or choose from the entire menu through the drive-thru.

The menu includes breakfast items, salads, sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, chicken tenders, shrimp, fish, mac and cheese, and homemade desserts.

We are so sorry for the inconvenience, but yes Jody’s has been sold, and is closing. While all of this is happening so fast for Don and starting his retirement, it is still so bittersweet. Don has been serving our community for almost 44 years. A huge shout out to him and his family for being so committed to the business and the community... Thank you to the community and customers for all the love and support for Jody’s and keeping it open as long as it has.

Thank you for all the memories and quality food! So much life has been shared over meals at Jody’s. Will always miss the strawberry jam & homemade toast, strawberry shortcakes, and grilled chicken sandwiches! Best wishes in your retirement!

So sad- my husband and I had our first date here as well as we ate here before he proposed to me at the Rockford dam. We have had many meals there otherwise as well

Jody's last day open is tentatively Dec. 22. Until then the restaurant is open Monday through Saturday 8am-8:30pm and Sunday 10:50am-8:30pm.
