New Upscale Restaurant, Boutique Hotel Now Open in Rockford
A brand-new place to stay—and sip and savor—has opened its doors in West Michigan!

After years in the making, Hotel Rose, a 54-room boutique inn, officially opened at the end of September at 12 S. Main Street in Rockford. The three-story hotel offers a mix of accommodations, from cozy double-queen rooms to spacious king and business suites—some with scenic city views.
The project is partially owned by Wheeler Development Group, and founder John Wheeler told MLive the goal is to bring back a touch of nostalgic charm:
It brings that nightlife—it brings that haven—kind of that old-time charm where all the hotels used to be in the urban cores in the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s. We’re trying to become part of the community again, through food, events, and hospitality.

Hotel Rose is managed by AHC Hospitality, the same group behind the Amway Grand Plaza, JW Marriott, and restaurants like MDRD and The Kitchen by Wolfgang Puck in downtown Grand Rapids.
And speaking of food, you’ll want to come hungry. The hotel’s signature restaurant, Char + Barrel, is now open too. It's also managed by AHC Hospitality. The team behind it says the new eatery's mission is to deliver a “delightful culinary experience filled with flavor, personality, and inspiration” using locally sourced ingredients and top-shelf wines and spirits.
