Once again you'll have a chance to get outside and watch movies for free in Grand Rapids this summer. Round up the kiddos, pack a blanket and some snacks, and have a blast at these open-air movie experiences!

East Grand Rapids Movies in the Park 2025

Each summer, the City of East Grand Rapids and Friends of the East Grand Rapids Library team up with sponsors to host free movies at John's Collins Park on the shores of Reeds Lake.

East Grand Rapids Movies in the Park takes place Fridays at dusk. Bring your own blanket or chair. Note that grilling is not allowed, nor is alcohol, unless you're following Social District guidelines.

Here are the movies you can see for free in East Grand Rapids this summer:

  • June 13 - Fall Guy (PG-13)
  • June 20 - Twisters (PG-13)
  • July 11 - IF (PG)
  • August1 - Mufasa (PG)

Sunset Cinema at Studio Park Downtown Grand Rapids 2025

In late March Studio Park announced its free movie series "Sunset Cinema" was returning in 2025.

While they usually announce the line-up around this time, this year you have a chance to pick which movies they'll show! You can vote for up to 15 movies that you'd like to see at Sunset Cinema this summer.

While they have not announced additional info for the series yet, in years past here is how it has worked:

      • Sunset Cinema takes place on Saturdays evenings
      • Seating is first-come, first-served
      • Bring your own lawn chair or blanket
      • Bring your own food or concessions are available for purchase

Byron Center Movies in the Park 2025

Byron Center Movies in the Park is back for its second year at Bicentennial Park. Food trucks open up at 6:30p.m. and finish at 9p.m., with the movies starting at 9:30p.m.

According to a video posted to Facebook, this is the schedule for Byron Center Movies in the Park 2025.

  • June 27-  Moana 2
  • July 18 - The Lego Movie
  • August 8 - Inside Out 2
