Longtime Grand Rapids Downtown Market Restaurant Closing, Another Moving In
After 13 years at Grand Rapids Downtown Market, one of the original restaurants is shutting down. A different market hall vendor is set to expand into the space, with a new concept.

Grand Rapids Downtown Market first opened in September of 2013. Since then, the market has grown to include more than 18 artisan food vendors and merchants. There's a commercial kitchen for start-ups as well, plus lots of cool events like themed markets and activities for kids.

As a lover of charcuterie, one of my favorites has always been Apertivo Wine Bar. In addition to a full-service cheese and charcuterie counter, the menu includes dips, salads, and sandwiches.
Well, get your fix soon, because Apertivo is set to close at the end of the month! The good news is that the owner's other business, gourmet grocery store Art of the Table, remains open on Wealthy Street. Also, if charcuterie is your thing too, I think you're going to like what's set to replace Apertivo!

The Grand Rapids Downtown Market shared news of the changes ahead to Facebook
We are thrilled to announce some exciting yet bittersweet news. The Aperitivo Grand Rapids brand will retire at the end of this month. Squibb Coffee and Wine Bar will expand into the Aperitivo Market Hall location with a similar yet different coffee and wine bar concept. Squibb will maintain the high quality of retail and counter service wine, beer, cheese, charcuterie, and small plates menu that Aperitivo has made standard over the years in the Downtown Market. Squibb’s new concept, which follows a traditional European cafe model, plans to open to the public in the near future.

Owner of Apertivo and Art of the Table, Amy Ruis, says:
After 13 years at the Downtown Market, we have decided that it’s a good time to focus our effort and simplify our brands. The Downtown Market created for us an opportunity to experiment with our traditional model, expand on our strengths, and meet so many amazing patrons in the Market Hall.
Squibb Wine and Coffee first opened at the Downtown Market in 2021. In addition, Squibb Coffee also has a location on Wealthy Street. On the menu you'll find a variety of toasts like Avocado Toast, Smoked Salmon, and Hot Honey Goat Cheese. There's also a variety of charcuterie boards, plus grilled cheese, coffee, wine, and beer.
Sqibb Coffee and Wine bar should be opening soon at the Downtown Market. Follow them on Facebook for updates!
