2 Michigan Towns Named ‘Most Pristine’ in America

No doubt the Mitten State is gorgeous and full of charming, and scenic towns. Two though, are being nationally recognized as having the "most pristine" streets in the U.S.

Waste Removal USA surveyed 3,000 travelers to discover which towns and cities across America have the most cleanest and lovely streets. They compiled a list of 100 of the Most Pristine Streets in the U.S. 

One Michigan town ended up pretty high up in the ranking!

Eighth Street in Holland came in at No. 12.

Downtown Holland you'll find more than 100 shops, galleries, and restaurants along the picturesque cobblestone sidewalks. There's a Farmers Market at the Eighth Street Marketplace that runs mid-May through mid-December.

And of course, because it's Holland, enjoy the tulips when they are blooming! Speaking of tulips, many of the city's Tulip Time festivities happen along Eighth Street. The multi-day festival happens in may and celebrates Holland's Dutch heritage.

Eight Street offers multiple restaurants including the iconic Windmill Restaurant, Butch's Dry Dock, Crust 54, HopCat, and New Holland Brewing Company.

During summer enjoy street performers and sidewalk sales downtown Holland.

It's also home to the largest, municipally owned snowmelt system in the U.S., keeping the sidewalks and streets snow and ice free, so people can still enjoy downtown in the winter.

Coming in at No. 58 for the most pristine streets in America is South Main Street in Frankenmuth, Mich. 

Known as "Michigan's Little Bavaria", Frankenmuth is a vacation destination with plenty of restaurants, shopping, and festivals. It was recently named Michigan's most charming small town.

Frankenmuth goes all-out for the holidays, with its dancing lights, singing Christmas tree, and shiny ice rink.

Just off South Main Street is Brohner's Christmas Wonderland, dubbed the world's largest Christmas store.

S. Main Street is home to legendary eateries like Zehnder's and the Bavarian Inn Restaurant.

You'll also find River Place Shops, a Bavarian-themed shopping mall with more than 40 stores. The Cass River crosses S. Main Street and you can go on a riverboat cruise or kayak tour.

Many parades and festivals happen on S. Main Street, including the Bavarian Festival, which celebrates the city's Germanic roots. It happens in June and includes a street party, bands, beer tents, a cornhole tournament, and more.
