One of the most common "pure Michigan" activities is to go camping. With over 425 campgrounds spread around the upper and lower peninsulas, there is no shortage of places to go. My friends and I have roughed it at spots like the Hiawatha National Forest and "roughed it" at Platte River Campground (there were toilets and a shower a few feet away).

While prices vary for the type of camping you're looking to do, most prefer spots with modern restrooms and electricity hookups. If you're one of those kinds of people, then you'll need to be aware of a fee increase for all modern, semi-modern campsites and all overnight lodging.
