I have only been to prison once (and no, not as an inmate) but it was with a girl I was dating at the time to see her brother. We went to Jackson, Michigan, to the state prison and boy was that an experience, especially being in a room with a bunch of inmates. The things we do when dating.

My best friend Curt who I've known most of my life worked for the Michigan Department of Corrections so I have heard plenty of stories about inmates and visitors trying to sneak stuff into the prison. People and prisoners get pretty inventive on how they try and sneak things into the big house.
At one prison he worked at in Detroit they caught people throwing contraband over the fence to inmates but it was much easier since the prison was built in the city giving citizens easier access. My friend worked most of his prison career in facilities in Michigan's Upper Peninsula and said they never caught a guard sneaking in anything into any of the prisons he's worked at but did suspect a few but couldn't prove it.

Michigan Prison Guard Busted Trying to Sneak Drugs into Work
You would think if you work in a prison and are close to retirement, the last thing you would do would be to try and smuggle in some contraband to inmates inside your place of work.
According to WOOD, 59-year-old Andre Taylor (MDOC officer) and his accomplice, 57-year-old Edward King were arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle drugs into the Chippewa County facility in the Upper Peninsula. Taylor allegedly worked with King to smuggle in contraband.
The MDOC contacted the Michigan State Police to put together two traffic stops using search warrants and discovered nearly a $500,000 in drugs. Below is a list of the contraband:
- 15 Sheets of suspected K2 Paper (A form of synthetic marijuana).
- Over 500 suboxone strips (used to treat people with opioid addiction).
- 74 grams of marijuana wax.
- 62 grams of methamphetamine.
- More than $4,500 in cash.

If Taylor and King are convicted they are looking at up to five years in prison for their alleged crimes.
