Spinbet analyzed posts from Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube to determine which Americans were taking snaps and sharing selfies the most in the country. It's a timely study as well considering today (June 21) is National Selfie Day!

They found that Michigan is the ninth most selfie-obsessed state, with a total of 25,000 online mentions for the world "selfie" over the past twelve months.

Florida comes in as the No. 1 most selfie-obsessed state with 123,000 mentions. Texas clocks in at No. 2 with 109,000.

For whatever reason, only 46 states are ranked. North Dakota comes in as the least selfie-obsessed state with 1,067 mentions.

(Interesting tidbit - did you know the first selfie was taken in 1839? According to National Today, the first selfie is widely credited to Robert Cornelius, an American chemist and founding father of photography. He sat still for 10-15 minutes to create the first intentional self portrait 185 years ago.)
