
Longtime Downtown Grand Rapids Coffee Shop + Restaurant Shutting Down
2025 continues to be difficult for Grand Rapids food and drink scene -- and the hits just keep coming. Yet another downtown business is closing it's doors for good soon.
Recently we told you about the closures of House of Wine, Rockwell Republic, GR Noir, and Beacon Corner Bar. Now, a longtime downtown coffee shop has announced it's shutting down.

Local Mocha has been in business at 96 Monroe Center NW for 17 years. According to MLive Doosi and Luther Ajim opened the business in 2008.
In addition to fair and direct trade organic coffee, the cozy café also serves smoothies, frappes, and other specialty drinks. The food menu includes breakfast and lunch options, like pancakes, sandwiches, wraps, baked good, soups, and salads.

A sign has been posted at Local Mocha announcing the restaurant's closure.
The owners write,
Thank you for supporting us the past 17 plus years... Thank you for the laughs, the happiness, and the many stories - good or bad - we've shared together... We will miss you dearly, but wish every single one of you the best. May 3rd will be our final day.

A reason for the closure was not given. Local Mocha also sells bags of coffee and syrups if you want to stock up before they close!
