These Photos Show The Pain of Detroit’s Loss vs Commanders
This was Detroit's season. Walking around Meijer on Saturday you would have thought there was a massive storm coming with how packed the store was and how empty the shelves were (everyone and their mothers were having watch parties). The Lions were the most-watched team during the 2024 season. Everything was looking up for the Lions.
Until a storm did arrive in the form of Jayden Daniels.
When the Lions fumbled the ball on Washington's 2-yard line in the first quarter, things kept going downhill from there, resulting in a 45-31 loss despite being the #1 seed and having a bye the previous week. For a city that has seen major lows over the years (*cough* 2008), this loss hurts more than any before because for once we had hope.
The Lions weren't an underdog like last season. This season, the 15-2 Lions were widely considered to be Super Bowl favorites.

However, by the time the Lions had caused their mind-boggling 5th turnover of the game, much of Ford Field had already cleared out and the pain of the loss was written all over the faces of the fans. The cameras were more than happy to capture the hopelessness of those present.
The photos below represent how many of us were feeling Saturday night.
