The NFL posted the schedules for the 2025 season, with seven teams having the toughest road to the playoffs. What is even crazier about this tough schedule, 4 of the 7 teams are in the Lions division.

Bleacher Report Says the Detroit Lions Will Go 9-8 in 2025

Bleacher Report does a win-loss prediction for NFL teams each season. The report is not just based on the 2024 standings and win-loss percentages, it also includes off-season coaching hirings and roster moves.

The Detroit Lions lost offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, who played key roles in the team’s 12-5 season. The Lions lost 8 assistant coaches to other NFL teams.

Losing 8 assistant coaches would scare most people, but it’s worth remembering the Patriots’ Super Bowl success despite staff turnover.. After every Patriots Super Bowl win, they lost several coaches and went on to win more.

I think losing offensive coordinator Ben Johnson was the biggest loss from the coaching staff. Johnson is a gifted play-caller, but I have faith in Detroit's general manager, Brad Holmes, and head coach Dan Campbell made the right moves with the coaching staff and players.

According to the Bleacher Report, the Lions' tough road schedule this year, with five of their six away games against playoff teams from the 2024 season, could create some losses, plus they are in one of the toughest divisions in the NFL.
