
The History of Michigan License Plates From 1900 to Now
You see them every day. Some people have the standard white and blue plate, while others have a fun vanity plate that spells a word or phrase. I love all of you who do that, providing me with 30 seconds of entertainment at a stoplight. My favorite is when an electric car has something related to not needing gas or this truck's unabashedly Michigan plate.

In recent years, the State of Michigan has introduced new plates for various reasons, like supporting a university or a cause. Some of the plates are purely for aesthetics, like the Mackinac Island sunset license plate (the best plate).
The Reunion Tour
Recently, the State of Michigan has been introducing vintage/throwback plates from years past and it has been a major hit around the state. The Water Wonderland (1954 to 1964) and Water-Winter Wonderland (1960s) plates were quickly adopted, and now drivers can get another retro plate starting in February: the blue and black plate from the 70s, 80s, and 90s.

Many previous plates are available for purchase for personal collections. So with Michigan tapping into the wave of nostalgia that has carried pop culture for the last couple of years, it only makes sense to see what plate could be next on the revival treatment.
