As far as when it's best to check out fall colors in the Mitten State, Michigan Beach Towns says if you're the Upper Peninsula, the best time will be October 1st to the 18th. In Northern Michigan, spot peak fall colors October 3rd through 20th. In the lower part of the state, fall colors will be stunning October 5th through 22nd.
