NCAA Investigating U-M Over Alleged In-Person Scouting

Yahoo Sports' Ross Dellenger and Dan Wetzel are reporting on Thursday that the NCAA is now investigating the University of Michigan football program for alleged violations regarding in-person scouting and possible sign-stealing of future opponents.

The Yahoo report comes two days before the 2nd ranked Wolverines face arch-rival Michigan State in Spartans Stadium. The unbeaten Wolverines are more than a three-touchdown favorite to beat the Spartans.

By the way, the Spartan coaching staff was alerted to the allegations/investigation earlier this week. That's according to the Yahoo report, highlighted above.

While stealing coaches or players signs isn't against NCAA rules, in-person scouting has been against the rules for nearly 30 years. Again, that's according to Yahoo.

This is the second time in the last year that the Michigan football program has been investigated for potential NCAA rules violations. A final resolution to the NCAA investigation involving possible rules violations seen here has yet to happen. Although Michigan did suspend head football coach Jim Harbaugh (seen above) for the first three games of the 2023 season for the alleged violations from earlier this year.
