Grand Valley State University has announced a new program which will increase the number of students graduating as nurse practitioners from GVSU.

GVSU's Kirkhof College of Nursing has received a $2.8 million federal grant to work with McLaren Health Care and Mercy Health Muskegon to graduate more nurse practitioners to work in rural or underserved areas.

The grant will support 15 students. Recruitment of qualified students begins this month with the first students enrolling in the program this fall.

The four-year Advanced Nursing Education Workforce Grant is supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
