Grand Rapids Rocks- Axis and Atlas

I love Grand Rapids and all it has to offer with local music, so I decided why not feature local bands here on wgrd.com! Todays featured band is Oceans Over Earth, they answered a few questions for me below! Who are all the members of your band, and what do they play?
Matthew Timmer/Drums; Andrew Hofert/Bass; David Lemkuil/Guitar, Vocals; Brenton Weaver/Guitar, Vocals

When did the band get together, and how?
Originally, it was just Matt and David jamming together in '07. We all met each other through work.

How would you describe your music to someone?
‘Atmospheric Rock’.

Who are some of the bands that influence your music? Brand New, Minus the Bear, Thrice, Circa Survive, The Mars Volta, A Perfect Circle, Tool, Deftones, August Burns Red, Foo Fighters, and Coheed and Cambria.

What other bands have your members been/are in? Brenton used to be in a band called ‘From the Jowls of the Fallen Beast’ in the Bay City area a long time ago, and Matt was in several different bands out in Muskegon. Andrew and David have never been involved in any other projects.

What other local bands would you recommend people check out?
The Skies Revolt, Genetics, Oceans Over Earth, No Sleep for Panama, Stone the Manic, Nathan Gafford, Day In Day Out, Another October, Lenin/McCarthy, Stockton, Mustard Plug

Where is your favorite place to play in Grand Rapids?
Juke’s Bar

Where can we catch you performing next? Right now it looks like Holland Brewery. Open mic nights at Billy's are also an option. We are currently looking for a vocalist, so shows will be scattered until we find a good fit.
