Well, the City of Grand Rapids has multiple ways to keep cool in the summer time, including local pools and splash pads. Find out when they'll open up in 2025!

Opening Day Grand Rapids City Pools 2025

The first official day of summer this year is June 20 — but you won't have to wait that long to take a dip! Grand Rapids city-run pools and splash pads are set to open June 6, 2025.

There are three Grand Rapids City Pools at local parks:

  • Briggs Pool at Briggs Park (Lafayette and Knapp NE) 
  • MLK Pool at Martin Luther King Jr. Park (Fuller and Franklin SE)
  • Richmond Pool at Richmond Park (Richmond and Tamarack NW)

They all have open swim during the following days and times: Closed Mondays, Open Tuesday through Saturday, noon to 7p.m, Open Sunday 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.

The last day of the season for city pools is August 16, 2025 — so plan those pool days early. We all know how quickly summer slips by!

How Much Does it Cost to Swim in a City of Grand Rapids Pool?

Cost to swim in a city pool is $3 for residents 17 and under. Residents over 18 are $6.  For non-residents under 17 it's $5 and for those over 17, it's $10.

Note that the City of Grand Rapids is offering free swimming for kids 17 and under this year, but you'll need to register before June 6.

When do Grand Rapids' Splash Pads Open in 2025?

City splash pads open up the same day as pools: June 6. The season does run longer, though, with splash pads staying open until Sept. 14, 2025.

  • Campau Park - 50 Antoine Street SW
  • Cherry Park - 725 Cherry Street SE
  • Fuller Park - 300 Fuller Avenue NE
  • Gerald R Ford Middle School - 851 Madison Avenue SE
  • Heartside Park - 301 Ionia Street SW
  • Highland Park - 523 Grand Avenue NE
  • Joe Taylor Park - 1030 Bemis Street SE
  • Lincoln Park - 231 Marion Avenue NW
  • Mary Waters Park - 1042 Lafayette Ave NE
  • Mulick Park - 1632 Sylvan Avenue SE
  • Roosevelt Park - 739 Van Raalte Drive SW
  • Wilcox Park - 100 Youell Avenue SE

Splash pads are FREE and open daily 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.

If any pools or splash pads are unexpectedly closed, the City of Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation Department will make an announcement on Facebook.
