The new soccer stadium coming to Grand Rapids will not only bring the game to the city but give locals kids a chance to work their way to the pro's.

So far we know the new soccer stadium in Grand Rapids will be located at 230 Winter Avenue NW. The stadium will hold 8,500 seats and will be used as a multi-purpose venue. We also know the venue will be called Amway Stadium.

One great thing about soccer is both boy and girls, and men and women can play the game. Most schools can afford to have a soccer program since you just need two goals , a ball, a field, and a couple of referee's.
I remember being in 5th grade and my teacher saying someday soccer will be as big as the NFL. It's been a lifetime since I heard that statement and played the game at my elementary school but he was right about the growth of the sport but not the NFL part at least in America. In most other countries soccer is the number one sport globally.

Dreams of Becoming a Professional Soccer Player is Now Possible in Grand Rapids
According to WOOD, the Grand Rapids men's soccer team will be a part of the Major League Soccer Next Pro (MLS). There's no team name, logo, or team colors but a kid playing soccer at a school now has something to shoot for locally.
Like the Whitecaps, Griffins, and Gold, the MLS is the equivalent to a AA franchise where some of the players will eventually go pro while others who are pro will sometimes rehab with the team. Boys and girls learning the sport for area leagues and school teams will be able to watch next level athletes which in turn will make them better.
Soccer will begin at Amway Stadium in 2027 and it won't be long after we here of a local soccer star moving on to a college and someday coming back to play professionally for the home team in Grand Rapids.
