Don’t Forget, the Sega Dreamcast is 16 Years Old Too! [Video]
Sony may be celebrating the release of their first gaming console 20 years ago, but there is another game console that is celebrating a birthday too!
Sadly, this one didn't last as long.
September 9, 2015 is the 16th birthday of the ill fated Sega Dreamcast.
This console was a truly nex-gen game console that came maybe a little too early. Right after the Sega Saturn, Sega was looking to reinvent itself in the console market, but sadly got it's butt kicked pretty quickly by the Playstation 2.
Sega Dreamcast had some really great games on it! Games like:
- Power Stone
- Illbleed
- House of the Dead 2
- Grandia 2
- Crazy Taxi
- Resident Evil Code Veronica
- etc.
I didn't own a Dreamcast when the console came out, but I was pretty envious of a lot of friends when the system came out. It had online gameplay, smooth graphics, and the system just looked cool!
During the whole life of the console though, people held out for the Playstation 2 which quickly silenced the Sega Dreamcast.
It was a amazing console for it's time, and was the last effort at a game console from Sega. Maybe someday we'll see a Dreamcast 2, but I doubt it.
