Former Detroit Tigers players Don Kelly and Justin Verlander were teammates for six seasons in Detroit. Now, the former Tigers are together again.

As the Detroit Tigers pack for spring training and another season with low expectations, we're looking for things to look forward to. The reunion of Justin Verlander and Don Kelly with the Houston Astros makes the cut.

Verlander and Kelly were fan favorites in Detroit. Verlander was an MVP, Cy Young winner and ace of the pitching staff. Kelly did it all including playing all nine positions over the course of his nine-year career. Despite having a career average of .230, fans will tell you he always (sometimes) came through in the clutch.

In fact, the photo here shows Don Kelly celebrating with Justin Verlander after Kelly hit a game winning sacrifice fly during Game Two of the American League Divisional Series at Comerica Park on October 7, 2012. The Tigers beat Oakland 5-4. Clutch.

The news of Kelly's hire came late last year. He'll be the first base coach for the Astros. If Verlander ever reaches first base, it will be Kelly's job to make sure Verlander doesn't think about stealing second.
