Former Detroit Tigers player Justin Verlander shows that he still considers Detroit home.

Verlander, who now plays for the Houston Astros, and his Michigan-native wife Kate Upton, expressed their heartbreak over the conditions in Detroit during coronavirus. The couple said they are working with t-shirt company, Bella Canvas, to deliver 25K face masks and B Strong to donate thermometers.

The Verlanders have also donated to Feed the Frontlines which supports local Detroit restaurants to feed those in the frontline for free.

A couple weeks ago ESPN reported that Justin Verlander is one of the players in the MLB who will be donating their salary to COVID relief organizations. Verlander will donate his paycheck on a weekly basis.
