The owners of Brewery Vivant, a Grand Rapids staple in the microbrewery scene, and Broadleaf Brewery + Spirits in Kentwood made a surprising announcement yesterday on their Facebook page: they will be re-opening its Broadleaf Brewery + Spirits location on the West Side that previously closed earlier this year with a "fresh new concept" and are actively hiring bartenders.

Broad Leaf Brewery + Spirits announced in January that it would be closing its West Side location after things "just didn't pan out" at their Bridge Street location. At the time, Broad Leaf CEO Jason Spaulding said that the West Side location would need to have doubled its business in order to stay open, leading to its closure. Last reports showed they were working with the landlord to lease out the space.

However, it looks like fate would have it that they would be their own next tenants. While details are slim on what the 'fresh new concept" will consist of, we can speculate based on some of the changes that have been made to the Kentwood location. The additions of pickleball and "kick pin" (a mix of soccer and bowling) courts have proven fruitful for the Kentwood location.

Could the new location look to add unique experiences like this? Or will it add more retro video games, which worked in drawing in more customers towards the end of the original West Side location's run.
